My approach is different in 5 ways:
1. My coaching approach starts with my ‘Step Back 2 Move Ahead’ with all-important individual goal-setting based on your current reality and your realistic training commitment.
2. My approach has a nearly 100% success rate. When runners follow their individualized training with intention, they achieve their goals. Hundreds of runners of all ages and abilities, make significant improvements and achieve their goals, when they follow my individualized training approach.
3. My approach is completely individualized, based on your training background, lifestyle, ability, realistic commitment level, current fitness level and goals.
4. My ‘One Brick at a Time’ individualized training builds a solid foundation using only two key, high-leverage training sessions a week. Whether you run 4, 5, 6 or 7 days a week, if you can prioritize two key moderate-intensity, individualized training sessions each week, you will safely get fitter, make measurable step-by-step progress, grow in confidence, and gradually transform as a runner.
5. Runners with similar shorter-distance times, run 3-6 minutes faster, on average, in a half-marathon, and 6-12 minutes faster, on average in a full marathon, with my coaching than with other programs. Often, they make much greater improvements than this.
Runners get injured or burned out by (1) not setting realistic goals, (2) not doing the right type of workouts, (3) training more or harder than they can handle, (4) cramming their training into too short a timeframe for their goal, and (5) not taking adequate recoveries.
My proven individualized ‘One Brick at Time’ approach eliminates all of these risks, by (1) using my ‘Step Back, 2 Move Ahead’ realistic goal-setting process, (2) simply prioritizing two key training sessions a week, (3) keeping the two key training sessions each week, to a 7.5 to 8.5 effort on a scale of 10.0, (4) flexing the key training sessions as needed, always allowing 72 hours of recovery between key sessions, and (5) patiently stretching out the timeframe for your targeted event.
If a runner is already fit with a consistent training base, I use a patient 18-week / 4-month program for half-marathons, and a 22-week / 5-month program for the full marathon. This patient approach prevents cramming, injuries and burnout -- and it reduces mental and physical stress and fully prepares you with confidence for race day. The improvements and goal-achievement of hundreds of runners shows that it works!
