About Me
Hi, my name is Guy and I help performance-oriented runners improve their running and achieve their goals, with my practical and highly-successful, individualized training approach, that eliminates the second-guessing of generic training programs, without injuries or burnout.
For more than three decades, I have helped hundreds of runners improve their times significantly, and achieve their goals and become more confident with a practical, individualized training approach.
My 'Step Back 2 Move Ahead' and ‘One Brick at a Time’ training has a nearly 100% success rate for those who follow it. If you can simply prioritize two key training sessions per week, you can make steady, measurable progress and transform yourself as a runner.
I competed as an NCAA D1 college athlete and I have been through all of the ups and downs and trial and error that comes with training for and racing the longer distances. I know the challenges and frustrations that runners face, to achieve success and satisfaction.
From all of my own trial and error as an athlete – as well as my in-depth study of the sport -- I have learned what doesn’t work and what DOES work for athletes. I know what works because I have undeniable proof of it from the consistent improvements and success of the athletes I have coached.
Through my own experience and studies, I’ve learned to apply the most important practical keys to successful training for hundreds of runners of all abilities, including countless half-marathoners and marathoners.
My 'Step Back 2 Move Ahead' and ‘One Brick at a Time’ approach focuses on setting an exciting and achievable goal and simply prioritizing 2 key training sessions per week. Whether you run 4, 5, 6 or 7 days a week, if you can prioritize two key individualized training sessions per week, you can build the solid foundation necessary to experience measurable changes in your fitness and race performances.
While the core training principles are the same, each runner is different, so you need your own individualized blend of key training sessions, that work together to build the foundation that gradually takes you to another fitness, confidence, and performance level.
It’s all about getting the most from the safest, highest-leverage key individualized workouts. These key training sessions are not extreme – the effort-level is 7.5 to 8.5 out of 10.0 – and they build your solid foundation ‘one brick at a time.’
It is an optimal, consistent, individualized blend of training sessions that takes you to another level, without the risky, unnecessary overly-hard workouts that so often lead to injury, plateau or burnout, and failure and frustration.
I have coached hundreds of runners of all abilities for over 25 years, with extraordinary success. These athletes have earned 200+ High School State Championship medals, over 50+ High School & College ‘All-American’ medals and 26 ‘National Championship’ medals.
Countless marathoners have routinely achieved Boston-Qualifying (BQ) and other Major-Marathon-Qualifying times and run their very best half-marathons and marathons, while also running PR’s at every race distance, in the process.
Every athlete that listens and follows my individualized "Step Back 2 Move Ahead' and 'One Brick at a Time' training program with coaching guidance and support, begins to build a solid foundation for success. You will make steady measurable gains in fitness, significant performance improvements and consistently nail your target events with the confidence of knowing you are well-prepared.
Runners who target half-marathons and marathons already invest so much time (and money) into their training and racing. Unfortunately, they are often plagued by doubts from information overload, generic cookie-cutter training programs, injuries, burnout and ultimately incomplete preparation, that leaves them lacking confidence on race day -- and so often feeling frustrated in knowing they can do much better.
I can help you achieve your half-marathon and marathon goals, with my "step Back 2 Move Ahead' and ‘One Brick at a Time’ individualized training program.
Harder is not smarter. Patience actually gets you there sooner, and with much less risk and a much greater probability of success.
